The term ‘Alpine culture’ encompasses historical, political, social, ecological, cultural and sporting aspects and perspectives. Submitted projects must be set in the Alps. A documentary approach is required, with a focus on archival film footage, adventure and exploration expeditions, the mountains as a natural habitat, tourism, the economy, artistic exploration or mountaineering activities (alpinism, climbing, hiking, ski touring, freeriding, mountain biking, trail running, kayaking, paragliding, slacklining, etc.).

The ‘LOWA Young Talents Award’ comes with a prize of 5,000 euros. In addition, festival director, filmmaker and author Tom Dauer will provide advice and support to the selected project.

Funding will be awarded to the project that stands out for its choice of subject matter, originality and commitment. Projects at any stage of development are eligible for funding.

Applicants must be aged 29 or under at the time of application. The following are required for the application:

Treatment

An approximately 10-page treatment setting out the theme, narrative structure, protagonists, locations, film length and the applicant’s creative vision. A schedule and a funding plan are also required.

Trailer

Ideally, the submission should be accompanied by an approx. 1-minute trailer that conveys the film’s visual concept.

The deadline for submissions is September 30^th, 2026. Submitted projects will be assessed by a jury of experts.

The winning project will be presented during the 23^rd Tegernsee International Mountain Film Festival in 2026.

The winner will then have until August 30^th, 2027 to realise the project. The completed film will have its premiere at the 24^th Tegernsee International Mountain Film Festival in 2027.
