Tegernsee Incentive Award for Young Filmmakers
The Tegernsee International Mountain Film Festival, in collaboration with LOWA, is introducing the Tegernsee Incentive Award to support young filmmakers whose projects showcase Alpine culture.
The term “Alpine culture” includes historical, political, social, ecological, cultural, and sporting perspectives. Eligible projects must be set in the Alps and adhere to a documentary approach, which may incorporate archived footage, adventure and discovery journeys, nature and mountain habitats, tourism, economy, artistic exploration, or mountain sports such as alpinism, climbing, hiking, ski touring, freeriding, mountain biking, trail running, kayaking, paragliding, and slacklining.
The Tegernsee Incentive Award allocates 5,000 euros to the selected project. Additionally, Festival Director, filmmaker, and author Tom Dauer will provide guidance throughout the process. The project is chosen based on its compelling theme, originality, and level of commitment.
Applicants must be no older than 26 years.
The application must include:
Treatment
Applicants must submit an approximately 10-page treatment detailing the theme, dramaturgy, protagonists, locations, film length, and artistic intent. A schedule and financing plan are also required.
Trailer
Ideally, submissions should include a one-minute trailer conveying the film’s visual concept.
The submission deadline is 1 September 2025. The submitted projects will be evaluated by a jury of experts.
The winning project will be showcased at the 22nd Tegernsee International Mountain Film Festival in 2025. The award recipient will have until 30 June 2026 to complete the film, which will then premiere at Lake Tegernsee.
