A few years ago, Maximilian Werndl and his friends started BASE jumping. At first there were ten of them, by now only four are still alive. All the others have found their death. Between addiction and doubt, Maximilian, his mother and his girl-friend describe their fears and worries – as well as this adventure’s great fascination. What emerges are the contrasts inherent in most extreme mountain sports.

“Last Exit” received the Prize by the German Alpine Club for the Best Alpine Film in 2017.

Freeriders Alex, Max and Raphael are merely testing their tent – when suddenly they find themselves in the middle of a fantastical adventure. A breathtaking roller coaster ride through magical mountain scenery begins. Their tiny magical tent brings our three likeable heroes to unknown places.

They are not the only ones to enjoy this outrageous trip in a tent that’s way too small – the film previously received the Prize for a Junior Film Maker.

While her path to success was not always an easy one, she manages to draw new strength from a personal calamity.

Symphony on Skis

In 1986 mountain guide Gottlieb Braun-Elwert traversed New Zealand’s Southern Alps in just 18 hours – from arid steppe to the West Coast. For him, this arduous 30 mile ski tour across New Zealand’s biggest glacier, four impressive mountain passes and 4,000 m (13,123 ft) of altitude was never a battle. Rather, he compared this adventure to a symphony. Last year’s jury recognised Carla Braun-Elwert’s film with an Honourable Mention and she received the Audience Award.
