Tegernsee Mountain Film, 16th International Festival from 17 – 21 October 2018

With Passion and Enthusiasm for Mountain Film

It enthrals with images, uncovers critical trends with the help of daring perspectives and directs our attention towards exciting encounters: Tegernsee Mountain Film is synonymous with passion — for all involved, be they film makers, audience members, sponsors or event hosts. This is what its founders wanted and how the renowned Mountain Film Festival this autumn will once again fascinate people from all over the world at the shores of Lake Tegernsee in its 16th edition.

Surprising, brave and creative — these are the qualities of the submissions already sent by film makers to Tegernsee. “Not only in terms of their athletic achievement on the mountain, but especially in terms of their artistic approach” the films impress Film Festival Director Michael Pause. “It’s simply unbelievable how many novel images, perspectives, camera settings we are noticing here.” New points of view and impressions do not just inspire enthusiasm but possibly also moments of quiet reflection. “We delight especially in those kinds of submissions. They show potential to land on the upcoming festival’s list of winners, to impact on the scene and possibly to become a mountain film classic over time.”

By now more than 90,000 visitors come to Tegernsee to seek inspiration from the latest mountain films. Even thought much has been changed and improved over the years, the Tegernsee festival framework has remained constant from the start: the picturesque landscape surrounding Lake Tegernsee, the small town flair and intimate atmosphere, where film makers, audiences and hosts feel right at home.

One guarantor for the festival’s quality and persistence is the team surrounding Director Michael Pause, including the City of Tegernsee (Festival Host), support from the German Alpine Club (DAV) and Bavarian Broadcasting (Bayerischer Rundfunk) and practical assistance from Tegernsee Tourism (Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH). The festival has found a long-term sponsor and supporter in multi-channel mountain sports equipment retailer “Bergzeit”, an ideal partner who shares not only a “passion for outdoors” but also for mountain film and for the beautiful region surrounding Lake Tegernsee.
