Tegernsee Mountain Film, 16th International Festival from 17 – 21 October 2018

 Submit New Mountain Films Now!

Up until end of May film makers may submit their latest productions from the fascinating world of the mountains; this completes the first step towards participation at this autumn’s Mountain Film Festival in Tegernsee!

Productions created after 2015 can be submitted to one of three main categories, in which film makers approach the mountains from different thematic angles. The best film across all categories will be awarded the Great Prize of the City of Tegernsee (worth 3,000 euros).

The category Mountain Experience puts alpinism and sportive encounters with the mountains centre stage. The best film in this category will be awarded the Prize by the German Alpine Club (Deutscher Alpenverein). Landscape portraits and inquiries into environmental issues are the focus of the category Mountain Nature, whose prize will be awarded by the festival’s Exclusive Sponsor Bergzeit. The third category, Mountain Life, looks for films that take stock of ethnological and cultural aspects in the encounter between people and mountains.

Moreover, the best film by a junior film maker (younger than 32 years) will receive the Otto Guggenbichler Prize, named after the Mountain Film Festival’s founder. Finally, viewers vote for the “Bayern 2 – Audience Prize” (media partner, the radio network Bayern 2).

Starting in 2017, the Small Mountain Film Festival Prize will be awarded to the best children’s and young adult film.

All mentioned awards are connected with a monetary prize.
