Press Release Call for Submissions      01/2012 - March 07-2012

10th Tegernsee International Mountain Film Festival, 17 – 21 October 2012

Anniversary in Autumn – Submissions to the Competition now welcome!

The Tegernsee Mountain Film Festival’s 10th Anniversary beckons in October with a great number of additional scheduled events. Central focus are as always on mountain films, which from now on may be submitted by their producers.

Numerous winning films of past years will be replayed at the 10th Mountain Film Festival. Eminent alpinists and climbers are due to make an appearance and film scores will play an important part in the fringe programme – more shall only be revealed later.
As always, the focus this autumn is on the latest mountain films from around the world: breath-taking adventures among ice and rocks, awe-inspiring images, impressive landscapes. From now until the end of May, film makers may submit their latest productions for the anniversary event in October. An international jury will select the best films so as to present an equally top-class programme as in past years. A special highlight of this year’s festival are going to be films about expeditions: the keyword for the Extra Category – which invites the best films of all times for screening and into the competition – is “mountain expeditions”.

Whilst the Extra Category does not impose any restrictions on the production year, only films that were produced after 2009 are accepted into the three main categories of the competition, which aim at various different thematic perspectives of mountain films. The category Mountain Experience puts alpinism and sportive encounters with the mountains centre stage. The best film in this category will be awarded the prize by the German Alpine Club. Landscape portraits and inquiries into environmental issues are the focus of the category Mountain Nature. The third category, Mountain Life, looks for films that take stock of ethnological and cultural aspects in the encounter between people and mountains. The best film across all categories will be awarded the Great Prize of the City of Tegernsee (worth 3,000 euros). Moreover, a prize will go to the best junior film maker.

Entry deadline is 31 May 2012. The10th Tegernsee International Mountain Film Festival programme will be available from mid-August.
